Shaving vs Waxing
Ease of Use
Waxing
You can do it at home or go to a salon to wax your hair. Doing it at home can be scary for those who have not tried it but it is very comfortable because it is in their own home. Although there are some skills you’ll need to learn, it is very easy.
Shaving
Shaving is cheap and fast and can be done anywhere. All you need is just a razor and some shaving cream.
Time
Waxing
It takes about 30 – 40 mins to wax and it takes weeks for the hair to regrow as it pulls the hair out from its roots so it has to completely regrow.
Shaving
It takes about 10 – 15 mins to shave. However, it takes about 5 to 10 days for the hair to grow back fully. So you would usually spend more time shaving then waxing.
Cost
Waxing
The cost of wax differs from the salon or the brand wax that you are buying. At home, it would cost about $15 – $50 and at a salon it would cost about $40 – $100. The prices between these two are very great so choose wisely.
Shaving
The cost of shaving is dependent on the razor you buy and how frequent you shave. Some razors cost more then others also some of the razors need to replace the blades after a few shave. Investing in shaving can definitely save in cost in the long run.
Pain
Waxing
Definitely without a doubt, it would be very painful and scary, just because you are new to it. It is because the strips are pulled in the opposite direction of the hair growth so the pain multiplies. It can also leave you with red spots on your skin.
Shaving
Shaving is painless as long as you have the skill patience and take all the necessary precautions. There are a lot of precaution you can take like using a shaving cream, shaving in the direction of the growth of the hair and rinse after each swipe of the razor to reduce change of any cuts or burns.
Effects
Waxing
The hair that grow back would be much thinner and finer as the hair is pulled out from it’s roots. Over time, the hair would take longer to grow and there will be lesser hair when it grows.
Shaving
Many people assume that after shaving, hair grows back much thicker but that’s not true. Since the hair is not pulled out from the roots, the thickness of the hair would be the same. Also the hair growth rate would still remain the same.
There are still many ways waxing is better then shaving
Waxing won’t leave little hair that can still be felt with your hands. It will remove all the hair leaving only smooth skin. People with sensitive skin can’t feel comfortable dragging a razor on your skin as it might lead to redness and irritation. It also help removes dead skins on the surface as dead skins might clog up pores.
You will get more ingrown hair when waxing then shaving as it removes the whole hair from it’s roots and grows back thinner with have a less likely to get trapped under the skin. Also it does not leave you with any scary cuts.
After reading these I hope you’ll see why waxing is better than shaving.
